Monsters and Martians Science Fiction Film Festival Presents the Canadian Premiere of Dimensions

The inaugural Monsters and Martians Science Fiction Film Festival will be held November 22-25 at Projection Booth Cinema in Toronto (1035 Gerrard St. East).  Submissions for the festival are now open and the guidelines can be viewed here.

Here are the subgenres they're looking for:

Steampunk, Slipstream, Time Travel, Space Opera, Futurism, Utopias and Dystopias- these are the stories that Monster and Martians will seek out and explore in short and feature length form. Horror films and entries which rely on a supernatural explanation will not be considered (e.g. ghosts, daemons, curses).

In anticipation of the festival, they are airing the award winning time travel film Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads at Projection Booth on August 18th, at 9 PM**. Correction at 8 PM (I was notified of the time change August 17th).  Tickets are $10.  The description of the film from its site:

Stephen is a brilliant young boy who lives in England, in what appears to be the 1920s – but nothing in Stephen’s life is quite as it seems.  At a garden party one night, Stephen’s world is turned upside down by a charismatic and inspirational professor with an inter-dimensional theory of time travel.
As Stephen’s life unfolds, events lead him to dedicate himself to turning the Professor’s theories of time travel into reality as jealousy, love, obsession, temptation and greed surround him and influence his fragile mind and the direction of his work.
