The Dark and Hallow Places is book Three in the series of The Forest of Hands and Teeth.
Here all of our favorite characters are coming together and trying to survive as the Horde of unliving are moving en mass to their previous thought, impenetrable island. Love is in the air while the trials of surviving are taking a toll on our beloved characters. Who will survive from getting off of Sanctuary while the Hordes are crashing at your doors. Will love conquer all odds in the tunnels? Will our characters find solace in each other, or succumb to the death.
Carrie Ryan weaves and amazing world building tale of love in the time of zombies, where food is scarce and the living try and beat insurmountable odds to just basically stay of the living.
The inner thoughts of Annah are absolutely remarkable. I love her inner dialog and how as a character she is finding that she has a beauty that no bodily damage can set apart from her. As a character Annah is fighting the struggle to stay driven and alive, just as much as she is fighting to keep the will to live within that struggle and find herself as a person of worth in the eyes of others.
The Dark and Hallow places was a masterpiece to read. I was not only on the edge of my seat, but a tear in the eye while reading.
The ending was beautiful and remarkable.
